Slater & Gordon partner Lisa Nichols said the law firm was looking at whether AMI shareholders had a legal claim against the company following the share price slump.
"This is a very significant development and calls into question the accuracy of the company's statements in recent weeks," she said.
AMI's disclosure record has also come under the scrutiny of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Stock Exchange.
