I hope that was the reason, but might have to do with a low conversion rate of Free-loaders into paying customers, as the last two announcements demonstrated. Just very expensive to give free minutes away and not get any paying customers in return.
See how this works out, it appears to me a lot of trouble downloading the app to only get two minutes to try. It will definitely deter all these freeloaders from downloading the app, only time will tell if it also deter future paying customers.
Downloads have been down the last week to there is at least some kind of effect already visible.
