You seem to have obviously thought through all of these:
- a foreign phone card won't work on locked phones.
- we should all cancel our home phone lines and mobile phone plans because we can use free apps over the internet instead to make calls, etc.
- not all countries allow foreigners/travellers to get local sim cards (eg: Japan) affordably.
- Getting a cheap sim card when you travel will not give you a permanent number, don't use it for a year or so and it expires.
- It's not like WP offers anything uniquely different to free apps like Skype and whatsapp. I mean, why even bother to do any basic research using google to find that WP offers an alternative to *roaming* by allowing users to rent local numbers when they travel without swapping out their sim cards, and that users can continue to be easily contacted on either their rented foreign number or their home number?
