But you're quite clueless stock lending and borrow and industry practices. You're comments ignorant. I've tried basic explanations: but it doesn't seem to work. There's only one legal entitlement, not two. In case of shorting, the "borrower" is the legal owner (until they sell - then there's a new owner). Custodian agreements frequently permit shares in custody can be "lent" ie sold.
