"Social Democrat" is a contradiction in terms. Democracy is anathema to socialists.
Our ALP doesn't call itself either "socialist" or "communist" but it is certainly one and has a lot of commonality with the other.
Regardless of what Bernie chooses to call himself, he widely regarded as a left socialist.
