Bikes riders and pedestrians both have an inflated view of their own rights with regard to the roads.
Drive through any shopping area and just watch pedestrians casually step off the kerb and cross the road assuming that car drivers will just stop (if they see them)
Drive down the Beach Rd /Pt Nepean Hwy on a Sunday and watch the disdain and arrogance that bike riders show when they ignore the road rules and the cars
Neither of these groups directly pay for the supply and upkeep of the roads that are such an essential part of our society where if you do not have a car you simply do not have access to efficient cheap transport and 100% of what we eat, build houses with or consume is delivered on those roads which are there for that purpose
When was the last time the police charged a pedestrian with putting other road users in danger.
Bike riders should at the very least be charged a license and registration fee.
They should also be treated the same as car drivers and fined when they do something wrong or dangerous
