Aqua - mate, not trying to be negative but is it possible they simply realised that the first graph does not have the shelf edge running under the buried hill? and therefore they simple edited the image and expanded the shelf edge graphic (stretched it) so that it runs under the buried hill?
Or was it not previously known that the shelf edge ran under the buried hill?
