Vertigo, I do NOT believe in duck-shoving my responsibilities onto others!
As one of the wealthiest and most privileged nations on Earth, Australia should NOT be exacerbating problems in other less privileged nations such as PNG.
It remains my view that we should have led the creation of a comprehensive regional management approach which does NOT duck-shove our responsibility elsewhere. Asylum seekers are desperate, damaged and vulnerable men, women and children; they're not beef cattle and should not be locked up indefinitely in hell holes whose conditions make our jails look like six star hotels.
Even more importantly, we should be doing our utmost to rebuild nations damaged by wars we decided to engage in instead of knee-capping the overseas aid budget and thumbing our nose at them as inferior cultures.
