"In fact it is easy to overestimate the political influence of Australian Jews. There are only two federal seats that could be said to be significantly influenced by Jewish voters: Wentworth in eastern Sydney, held by the Liberal Party’s Malcolm Turnbull, and Melbourne Ports, held by Labor’s Michael Danby. Danby is Jewish; Turnbull is not.
Certainly Jews in Australia and the US have influence, as do virtually all religious and ethnic groups. But it is pure mythology to depict Howard or Beazley as policy slaves to an Israel lobby. The same applies to George Bush and to Bill Clinton before him."
