Whyalla steel mill is the only one if not a few left that produce steel for Australia and global. When it comes to steel quality. Globally I think there only a few had its reputation and Australia is one of them.
Global markets it is challenging not just for steel, it also for everything else. Local market I do not believe our steel mill produce enough to fill the market demand and yet it fail. By now you should see where I am heading. Politician keep telling us because of global market therefor our steel industry not competitive enough to play its game. I say it a diversion from public view. I think its a policy failure. It allowed so much steel come into our land like nobody home.
The reason I am optimistic about ARI is because now the State and Fed governments start lifting up its game. They were talking a lot about anti-dumping law. Now its time for them to walk the walk regardless who is in power.
I understood there are many rails and roads network projects assigned by the Fed and state governments. It can apply immediate local steel product policy to new projects. I am very sure the demand is huge on Whyalla steel mill when its the only producer of its kind.
Further more local councils can get on board to help the country by restrict the use of foreign steel on newly home and building approval. The list go on but we can start from the top down to fast track the demand.
