The govt is taking credit for a booming economy that it had no control over. If Ronald McDonald was PM instead of Howard, will would still have had a booming economy. Howard was in the right place at the right time.
As for the scandal, i wouldnt be suprised if the govt get out of this one. All my life there has been incidents with corruption etc involving the govt, yet no one is ever prosecuted. There the govt but corruption is alive and well.
People have to remember this: The govt is voted in by the people, FOR the people. Its a privilage for them to be there. Howard and his cronies have forgotten this. In the aussie constitution, (which is the best in world) it says the govt must do what the people of Australia want. How many times we hear Howard saying "I dont care what the Australian people want"?
