Just to add some latest news on this great debacle, all the heavyweights from the meat industry are currently in meetings with amanda vanstone to clarify the laws regarding use of overseas workers in the meat industry, and why? because as we know an imported worker has to be paid a certain amount per annum ie 39,000 i think so as to make sure they are skilled, trouble was meat companies have exploited the fact that it does say how many hours you can work them for that amount!! so we have had meat companies working these immigrants for 60 hours per week, it equates to 14 dollars per hour, such greed and contempt for workers, this makes me so sick.
