Firstly the Australian economy is not in a good state. People that say the economy is doing well have no idea or they are a apart of a group that have jobs and are making killer money from construction sector and so on.Their is a lot of people out their that are struggling to get a job or make a living.Australia's economy was thriving because of mining sector and it's no longer the case hence the government created the demand for the housing sector to make up for the tax losses from mining. This is the reason the government took all the necessary measures such as bringing FTA. In fact Australia went into recession about two years ago, but very slow recession.Who knows where the economy will be in 6 months. One thing is for sure that global economy is not doing well at all. I just hope we don't see 2008 repeat or worse in 2017. Consumer staples will be the best place to park your money. And , remember everything is engineered and there's no such thing as accident
