Sydney - Tuesday - August 8: (RWE Aust Business News) - Kimberley Diamond Co NL (ASX:KIM) has achieved an all-time record price of $US393 per carat from the 49th diamond sale from its Ellendale project in Western Australia. The record sale price was achieved for a parcel of 6,033.85 carats realising total sale proceeds of approximately $US2.4 million. The parcel comprised run-of-mine production but excluded over 50 per cent of the near gem Indian material which was supplied to a new customer. Executive chairman Miles Kennedy, said that while the sale was not based on representative run-of-mine production diamonds, it highlighted the outstanding results that could be achieved from targeted production selection. "As part of the growing depth of our international diamond marketing strategies, we will be utilising selective sales such as this to complement our existing sales mechanisms through our Antwerp office," he said. "This outstanding result demonstrates the premium that our top-end Ellendale diamonds, particularly the stunning Kimberley yellow stones, attract in international markets." The 49th diamond sale brings Kimberley's consolidated sales since the commencement of production at Ellendale in 2002 to 396,568 carats, realising $107 million.
