Sugarpie, you are still avoiding the question about why the Chinese with the connection to their big end of town, did go with Altura.
It puts a complete dent into the opinions of the big end of town here, who are excellent at making mistakes themselves. This is so much the case that getting any investment going relying on capital from Australian institutions is going to cost twice as much as outside investment.
It is why we are basically giving the country away to foreigners!! There are so many boxes to tick for Australian institutions to invest, that they prefer to throw money at index funds (or a mimick there of). It is all about ar$e covering so much, that virtually nothing gets invested in companies that are really viable, yet spend a fortune on study after study that the equivalent of just getting on with the investment could have happened easily and been paid off by the time they get any funds from Australian institutions.
Trust me this is one conversation I have had many times, with people that matter!!
I can almost guarantee you that the money for the plant and mine will come from overseas, with a goodlick of equity going there.
Australian institutions would be miles in front if they had provided funds to PLS when we needed to drill an obviously large lithium resource. Instead NB had to go overseas and get $crewed by NYs and SAs for lots of free options etc. Australian institutions are so busy covering their bums to invest when it could really make a difference and be hugely profitable for a long period of time.
Australian institutions get something like $60b/yr (guess, please correct, not that it matters) in super coming in. Yet they actually "invest" very little. Buying shares in existing companies is not investment. Buying shares from companies so they can build the business IS investment. But Aussie institutions are so 'safe' with the money they don't do much investment at all.
Sorry for the rant, but talking about the big end of town here, just doesn't cut it, they will only supply the money when we don't need it!!!
