    banjar,
I would agree with you that welfare, if allowed to get out of control as it frequently has under labor governments, can be a threat to our society. In particular it can act as a lure for many of those so-called "asylum seekers" who travel half way around the world through multiple countries where they are completely safe, in order to claim asylum in Australia, in part due to the generosity of the welfare system expanded to ridiculous lengths, by the various labor governments. The Howard government is still working to unravel this bizarre mess and restore some sanity to the system.

However, you are not sensible to discount the danger that terrorism poses to our societies. However you would like to slice and dice, the aspirations and plans of the various terrorist groups represents a clear and present existential danger to our communities.

Although you may find it somewhat confusing, it is often necessary to access a situation and the necessity of attention, preparedness and response, by the magnitude of the threat it represents, rather than by the current death toll, or other statistics.

If you care to take some time and think about it carefully, you might come to the conclusion that some welfare cheating, while representing a bad situation, does not represent a comparable threat to our societites as well funded and expanding terror groups fueled by a violent and fascist ideology with the stated aim our either our conquest and submission, or our destruction.
