Are there any known benefits to smoking? To the individual, society or otherwise?
Decrease the load on the healthcare system and less litter- Ciggie butts are surprisingly durable!

I quit cold turkey after several attempts - Jan 3rd 2008.
There will be more tax revenue from it for a while but smokers are a dying breed (lol) so surely this is a diminishing return in the mid/long term.

Off-topic: I think having anyone born after a certain year (say anyone that is 14 or 15 now), being unable to buy smokes ever is a another creative solution.
