Tests have proved that a 20% ethanol mix in petrol causes piston cracking and damage to seals, gaskets & diaphragms in small engines like lawnmowers etc.
The inference is that the maximum safe (?) percentage is 10%.
What it will do to your car engine over time? Dunno.
I avoid ethanol personally.
