Just another money grab under the guise of public health concern. Nothing more. Due to the volume of soft drinks sold the tax can be quite small yet raise huge amounts. Such a small tax will not change behavior. Just look at smokers. And if it did alter behavior in any significant manner what would that mean for soft drink manufacturers? Reduced market share and affected profits. They would probably try to sue the government under ISDS clauses of a trade agreement.
Want children to stop drinking soft drink? Raise the drinking age............
