Oconnem, IMO the UK's government is using this new tax as yet another way in which to burden the poor - yet another tax that impacts almost entirely on lower income earners levied by an elitist government as it seeks to deprive the poor of what few choices and pleasures remain open to them.
The UK doesn't grow sugar so it couldn't give a rat's posterior about sugar producing nations like Australia - something that's become increasingly apparent since the advent of the EEC.
IMO Australia needs to ditch everything to do with the UK asap, they're discrimination against us is as plain as bull appendages and even their attitude to our sports people sux. As for what they did to our indigenous peoples and all the Australian lives sacrificed to save 'Dear Ol Blighty'; IMO, fair's fair and we need to grow up and leave home!
IMO there is NO place for yet another tax aimed at making us an increasingly 'nanny state'.
