If the lights were to be replaced, it would take many years for the costs to be made up again, led street lights will be the way to go, they are pretty much maintenance free and use less than half the power so money will also be saved on no maintenance, also alot of led type fittings have sensors built in, including motion sensors that dim and turn off automatically, the onky benefit I see in odn devices is monitoring and turning lights on and off when needed, Hps and metal halide can last up to 5 years before needing to be maintained, led light fitting can last up to 20 years with out any maintenance. Ive seen alot of cheapy products and the best i habe seen are the GE type.
