The only true definition of free range eggs that I have seen is a clip that was on the TV showing egg production on King Island where they really are free range on grassed padlocks, some of whom rotate their stock weekly onto new paddocks in the same way that other livestock are treated
The so called regulations/laws and recommendations are a joke they may as well class them all as caged because even the ones which allow the chooks out of the sheds only give them a very small dirt covered area
There will be some ethical egg producers around you just have to look for them and check them out, apart from where they come from has anyone ever had a "fresh" egg from any of the big stores
