Given these times of world interactivity there is one thing that doesn't fit in....Australian wages are too high
to compete.....Not saying that's right or wrong, bear with me, however, the solution coming out today for
Arrium's problems is that all Govt. projects should stipulate Aust steel must be used....An admiral concept
that will increase the cost of the project but will save Aussie jobs, but will it?......As they say every action
generates a reaction.....By precluding overseas steel so Aussie steel is used(protectionism) will no doubt
generate recipricol action from countries which we export to....I don't pretend to know the solution,
I just know it's a very complex problem....Knee jerk reactions in times like this generate more problems
than they solve....Just my thoughts....
