A problem with a cursory reference to law is when making a statement, as in regards to defamation, it may be deceptive due to not expanding to a full explanation. A chat forum doesn't lend it self to a full discussion, usually, therefore care needs to be taken not to give a false impression due to omission. There are many torts, one is injurious falsehood. While torts may or may not prove difficult to prove injury and damages casued by injury there are legal avenues available for a company to sue if it has suffered damage beyond defamation. As there should be. I am not a practising lawyer so happy to be corrected by a practising lawyer.
