I generally agree with your comments but I have to disagree this time. In fact with no malice intended I have to say that sometimes I miss the "thumbs down" option that we used to have!
Yes we have to raise cash but NO this was not a coincidence ... IMHO the Upgrade and CR coincided deliberately as a sweetener to get the CR away ... why else would it have been announced during a TH ahead of a CR instead of ahead of the TH to allow the share price to rise?
