Atomou, I'm waiting for Snuff to respond with his teddy reason, but you say ..."denman, wonderful explanation of what YOU understand the word "logos" to mean but I asked how was the word "logos" translated for you."

All I can remember as an eight year old when I left Sunday School, was of this all powerful, top shelf teddy figure who created eveything which even then I found stoooopid. I cannot remember any catechism but can remember having to memorise all these bits and pieces for the Sunday school teacher who would reward me with gaudy little illustrative stamps to be put in a booklet. I may point out that for some years I seemed to worry about all this as if I had done something very dastardly indeed but when I look back I just see closed mythical narratives with assumptions of imposed guilt cloaked as overflowing benevolence, I see control masquerading as friendship, I see manipulation of young impressionable minds to reinforce the ideology of the status quo and convince us to perpetuate a particular ruling power structure deriving from a self-existent entity that cannot exist. At the time I can say that I wanted to just follow my intuition and play in the bush, the gullies, the hills with my mates. Pretty normal and unexceptional one would say.

So whatever this St John's gospel said about the "logos" was of no concern because it represents parroting, rote learning in wrong order, creationism and unreason. Perhaps you can give your translation.
