They do, but they are a sham, there is no real democracy. There is a high likelihood that BOTH parties will nominate a candidate that no one voted for in the primaries.
The elections are a duopoly. The REAL power doesn't care which party wins because both come cheep cheep. The world is hoping Trump is not for sale, that is why he has support beyond their borders, but why his party wants him dead. [Definitely figuratively, maybe even literally, there are an awful lot of suicides among the suits in the US]
We have four big banks here, do you believe they are competitive or really care which party is in power?
