Absolutely. ATMs in India are sitting close to or now over 200,000. That number is projected to reach 450,000 by 2019 and there are already 643 million debit cards on the market in India. What we need to see though is more of these cards being used but those metrics are certainly pointing in the right direction. Throw in all the financial inclusion initiatives up and running and planned and I can only see debit card usage improving significantly over the short to medium term. My attention is on what impact the UPI system is going to play on the financial system in India. IMO, this system could take transaction volumes to a whole new level.
