There's no real reason for Tesla cars to catch on in the US right now. Petrol costs about half of what it costs here. The environmental benefit is questionable when these cars are going to be charged mainly through power points fed from browncoal plants. It's hype. Hypes fizzle out, but before this fizzles out there will be a herculean effort to increase lithium mining capacity. In other words, if Tesla proves to be a hype and fizzles out, there will be a lot of spare supply which means lithium prices go down. If and when Tesla falters, sell out of lithium.
