"Couple this with the fact that ALL speed cameras must be recalibrated every 4 weeks and you have a situation that allows for exploitation of many drivers who are not speeding."
With the old MultiNovas, a lot is up to the operator, and you get the odd good one.....
Driving West between Northam and Perth one night, wife driving, we passed a MultiNova and the damn thing flashed. As our speed was well under the 80 limit there, I instructed her to u-turn and confronted the operator.
He explained that he was just "setting up", and that we were indeed under the limit, but he was just calibrating the machine against a hand-held gun. Phew! No prob
I asked him how much leeway we were being given, and he said he was not allowed to say, but if I picked up the gun and looked in the viewfinder, I would see a figure...... I did....he was setting his machine for 88 km/hr, which I thought was fair. Was a nice bloke.
