Some US brokers don't make it easy to buy foreign stocks. I just logged into mine and I cannot bring up Yowie on the ASX. My American friend who wanted to buy shares told me he couldn't get it either. My broker is telling me to switch to a global trading account to invest in markets outside the US.

Fidelity and E-trade are on top of international trading though, they charge you the regular commission of $8.95 or whatever but then slap a foreign fee of about 50usD on top for a trade. So really for the average investor it isn't that attractive with such high fees, especially when they already have the best companies in the world being traded on their own exchanges.
