Short answer: No
If he has filed the patents, they are either his or the company/institution that he worked for, or who has bought them.
Being on a patent, even as a sole inventor, does not mean you own it.
However, all the know how that sits with the patent (and usually what makes it useful) is held by the inventor.
Its just a form of intellectual property (IP) protection
