Aiding and abetting a known child molester. There is no grey areas on this, he has admitted he knew about it, all the evidence is there. As far as I am concerned he should have been charged with the above crime. Maybe then and only then will these church figures stop using their powers to take advantage of children, knowing that they can safely hide behind the guise of the church, and be protected by others.
I don't care about whether Hollingworth committed other crimes (eg rape), to me, it is about whether he should hold the position of governor general knowing that he made some very dubious decisions in the past, decisions that show he is not capable of holding a position which asks for a person of great character and dignity.
Let the church be responsible for its actions, I don't recall the community ever condoning child sexual abuse, so it does not matter on how different times were in the old days, if punishment was not handed out then, the responsibles should be punished now.
