WES shareholders have made obscene profits over the years. Most of them cannot sell because of prohibitive CGT considerations. Thats a sign of long-term investment success, and a nice problem to have (as many WOW, WDC, BHP, CBA etc shareholders will attest).
Specifically WES is not the same company it was 2 years ago. It has become smaller. They have divested assets. But they have returned $9 to shareholders ($3.50 in capital returns, the rest in fully franked dividends).
Existing WES shareholders understand that stuff. If WES has no immediate plans for they cash, they return it to its rightful owner. Me.
What remains (a smaller company) has an efficient balance sheet, where assets are operated very profitably.
