Took the chance to go over to OzWater today and was happy to have the chance to talk to Eytan for about 30mins. I highly recommend that you take the chance if you can. To have access to brains trust behind the technology so readily is a rare privilege. We talked about heaps but the few things i can recall off the cuff
1. Got another run down on the technology behind MABR and they have gone to great lengths to source new materials that have really cut costs enormously
2. Had a quick chat with GE Water and a couple of others and seems like Emefcy just doing it better in terms of how low their energy requirements are compared with competitors also using MABR
3. EBR works in the lab (I think!) but its a matter of getting it right in production. Their approach is to err on the side of slowing down to work out all the mistakes rather than rush into production.
4. One of the reasons for not rushing into the Americas is they are still evaluating the service model - i.e. sell plant or WaaS which is obviously much more lucrative.
5. Eytan (and I!!) got excited when he started talking about EMC as a large (but distributed) Utility selling Water!!
6. Richard in New York at the moment negotiating but plenty of interest in providing finance to enable WaaS model.
7. China huge. Whilst accepting that they will be copied (cheap less effective copies) within several years the key is to stay ahead of the pack and provide for the high value market. I genuinely got the impression Eytan was excited about China. Ross was/or still is in China at the moment pursuing.
Lots more that i'm struggling to recall. All of this is my interpretation of our conversation and so some of it i may have mis-interpreted. But it left me feeling even more excited about the prospects of this company.
I said to Eytan that as a shareholder, i hope they let this run and we dont get snapped up too soon. At one stage i think he said once the SP hits $1.50 (cant recall the timeframe), all the Index Funds will have to start buying us which he seemed to think would be a good thing. I guess it can have pluses and minuses. ANyway i probably should have stopped listening after he said $1.50 - it will be near a 10-bagger by then anyway!!!!
As always DYOR
