Perhaps mainstream Iranians are like us and think religious zealots of any persuasion are crackpots - fortunately we can just ignore or marginalise ours. Iranians have a far more complex problem. The best we can do is try to break down the barrier as in the Cold War; hopefully bombs aren't needed, the internet and information are the best weapons of all. It's a bit hard to envisage internet savvy Iranians, or Chinese for that matter, don't yearn for what the west take for granted - just as the Soviets did 16 years ago. Best we can do is help them.
