Atomu, Yak's idea is as good as yours.
Ask 100 or 100,000 people and you will get the answer they feel like giving or that best fits their purpose. Maybe honest, maybe not, but certainly one way of getting local opinion which is what matters the most.

Regards our Indigenous people, from my own extensive experience the white invasion was a mixed blessing bringing both good and bad.
They were generally poorly treated, and in some parts of the country were hunted like animals. However this was not the case everywhere and massacres were rare isolated events.
I think more Indigenous people died from the diseases the whites introduced than anything else. Where I live up to 90% of the Indigenous population died from flu back in about 1890.
Most early settlers did not hate aboriginal and islander people and attempted to co-exist with them. In many instances the two cultures learnt from each other and everyone benefited. Probably not equally or fairly by today's standards but life was a lot tougher for everyone a hundred years ago.

Today Indigenous people are part of Australian society and discrimination and racism have all but disappeared with the exception of a few nutters on both sides.
Aboriginal and Islander people are, in fact, encouraged and assisted to improve their lot in life.
The past is past, the present is fair and just which is the time that matters.

    Dave R.
