Welfare state, page-58

Recently advertised for a truck driver. A couple of the applicants that were interviewed told me it was not worth taking the job as they would receive less than their current welfare payments! We are paying above average rates so there is clearly a problem somewhere in the system. Granted they had young kids but still does not make sense if there is no incentive to get a job.
