The most fundamental justification for immigration is to alleviate the "demographic time bomb" of boomers retiring with not enough younger workers to keep the economy going and to actually care for the boomers as they age.
Houston, we have a problem! Firstly illiterate migrants on the dole aren't contributing anything to a prosperous society. Secondly, automation and robotics will replace the low skilled workers anyway. There will be more than enough locals to fill the remaining jobs, provided they can be skilled and incentivised. [awful non-word!]
