I am now finding a lot of new research into PEM(proton exchange membrane) Fuel Cell Technology, including the related DFMC (direct methanol fuel cells) technologies.

Only need to do a quick patent search for PEM or DFMC to see the huge increase in research by big players. Last week I even found a new patent by EVEREADY for fuel cell to replace common appliance cell batteries that includes some type of hydrogen reaction. A Chinese researcher has just completed a study into using Niobium (aka Kryptonite, as is superman)
