Jonkey, one of my regrets with the sacking first time round of Kevin Rudd was that he had the backbone to challenge just what you have noted. Rudd sought to reduce the influence of the union gravy train on the ALP, explaining why the faceless men had him removed.
To the ALP's credit, they eventually resurrected Rudd and agreed to some of the reforms to the Party he demanded. Sadly, the Liberal Party did not follow that lead, hence its problems in ICAC and as per 4 Corners last night.
