not much need for a halt though to just announce what we already know (ops) - this suggests other.

Like it has the appearance to stop insiders selling the stock to the cr price before everyone can decide to do same .

That is usually the case in a rights issue.
Not so much in a placement. As placers have already sold by the time it's announced.


The bonus though is that if its not the ops issue, there is a compounding reason not to sell it down to any rights price or void the ops ex date.

Or for that matter the many deals that could unfold at any time.

Maybe it one of those cases where they can announce a China jv etc and the price rockets irrespective of a rights issue.

Note the ops is to come with prospectus my understanding with detailing current transactions . And I don't know if that (transactions) is referred to those binding already or those in progress .

But was the reason offered to me for the long preparation time.
