"its why historically FOMC first rate increases in a new tightening cycle have corresponded with recessions"
Where is this shown please? Kindly show me a chart correlating this claim. As I understand it, after every post WW2 recession, the Fed has tightened 2, maybe 3 years into the post recession recovery /expansion, without exception. Until.......

This time round it took six (6) years since 2009, not to mention after highly unorthodox monetary policy (int. rates at 0-0.25% target range, aka ZIRP) and several rounds of "WE".
This tells me that US, at least was never into any serious expansion / recovery that commenced at GFC trough, June 2009, as declared by the NBER in Sept 2010. Indeed this is considered the most anemic recovery / expansion since the Great Depression. Just the simple FOMC fact I mentioned above is sufficient evidence of this, without regard to endless reams of Economic Reports and metrics. That metric says it all.
See: http://www.nber.org/cycles/sept2010.html for NBER announcement indicating the start of the currenct "expansion".
I'd do it myself, by my upload screen dump tool (lightship) not working, dammit...despite multiple re-installs.
    P.S. Not a gold bug
P.P.S Not a conspiracy theorist, not predicting imminent global systemic collapse, and I've lived thru a couple, up close and personal (to the point where Lehman Bros. was my last client in 2008 or so - it may also be true they just didn't like me...)
It's not imminent. We will almost certainly have to wait until at least some time in 2017, with S&P 500 between 2,250-2300 a 2 Sigma Event, over-priced by some 50-60%. Last time I'll say it.

In the meantime - as for the past 35+ years - there's no shortage of books at highly reputable bookstores with titles like "How you can profit from the coming collapse". Now that's a good way to make a living! Tried and true. It's called millenarianism, for those of a historical and scholarly bent (and I know all here are "smarter than the average moose" - unlike the image below).
Here's a great reference -I love this stuff.
