I Ming. I would personally favour collaboration with a Chinese company on a domestic unit at least as I think China will ultimately win the new energy war.

    Problems are...
The Gildemeister deal likely locks AVL in for the next year at least. Whether GM would see the introduction of a cheaper sell up brand as beneficial remains to be seen. For now I think Vincent is working on the principal that if we can supply electrolyte passed by GB on quality then we could technically add electrolyte in Australia. That would be a huge price advantage for us. Obviously a massive advantage if we were also mining our own high quality resource.

On a commercial scale that seems logical for where we are right now.

In future I would favour a high quality Chinese domestic unit for the mass market. I did touch on this issue with Vincent and would say he is a man on a mission but with an open mind. He was also keen to keep communication open in the future and I must say I was very impressed by him personally.

The problem right now is that the market leaders in China, Rongke, do not make a domestic unit. I think that will come with the fullness of time.

Many do not realise but smaller flow batteries have been used in China for quite some time as power backup. So there is experience there but they are smaller players and I have yet to see one that would likely be high enough quality for western markets. Would love to see one of these re-branded in the future as V-SUN and it's one issue that will determine how I invest in AVL over the coming years. Should it happen we would not only have mass market appeal but also be a possible takeover target for someone like Rongke even though they have close ties to BNM close buy for electrolyte. They don't have a resource and we do.

For now I think his approach is correct but times and opportunities may change quickly. There is a lot riding on his decisions in the coming 2 years.

Ming. Ni shi zhonggua ren ma?
