Technicals measure the psychology of the market that has occurred. It is the basis to find stocks in this discussion or gold price itself to gauge likely outcomes in the future. It allows a measure of the likely risk reward metrics and the style of investing. It is not a predictive tool as being promoted by some folks. Sure there are dreamers tools like EW, Gann, Harmonics which all profess to peek into the future and they will get it correct at times.
