    JORN is a crock.

Even if it works, how does it display the whole of the northern sea and sky in a way that makes sense to an operator, even a computerised one?

If you are looking in the sky for a plane in visual range you need to focus on one part of the sky at a time, aided by your hearing, to see it. If it's not there you move your point of focus. Most importantly, if you didn't hear it, you would not even be looking for it. JORN and satellites must focus to see anything. If there is no reason to believe there is anything of interest, they do other tasks.
