The reason is that Muslims don't have power in the Western world, so there's not much to protest against. Where there has been an attempt to pressure backward societies, most commonly in Africa the result has been counter productive. Obama's intervention into the debate has been hijacked by reactionary elements in African communities who have masked their anti homosexual bigotry in the apparently "progressive" form of cultural independence and anti imperialism.
