I might add that the arguments around "Why don't gays protest against Islam," "Why don't feminists protest against Islam" etc should be seen for what they are...anti gay and anti feminist positions. In that sense the proponents are fellow travellers with reactionaries in Islamic circles in terms of underpinning philosophy, if not the violent tactics they employ. Go back a few decades and even the tactics may not have been all that different.
