They bought SI at the top of the market, then they had to pay 100s of millions to close a now worthless asset. Plus they are still paying for it.
They stuffed up big time on that one.
On the plus side they did acquire molycop which has given them much value, so they did do some good.
Because of the iron ore expansion they now have a big debt problem.
Its a good company with a bad debt problem. Which is exacerbated by the cyclical nature of iron and steel.
