As Shakespeare said, "there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of".

Unfortunately, logical positivism rules European societies to the point where we have largely shut ourselves away from what other so-called more "primitive" societies take for granted, which is the existence of other dimensions and paranormal phenomena. Essentially, we say if we can't see and study it, it ain't there.

The arrogance of the @darkrooms of this world and there are lots of them (usually blokes) amuses me however, I can understand the stance they take because this sort of stuff is quite threatening to their world view. For example, I worked in an old building for a long time that had a reputation for being "haunted". Most if not all of the women working there had experiences with ghosts and strange phenomena. I didn't personally, but I am a bloke and most but not all blokes have trained their brains to shut out what doesn't fit with our rationalist take on the universe. The women in question were intelligent and honest people and if they said they saw or experienced something I would believe them. Many other people I regard as friends or acquaintances or other people I have come into contact with have had experiences with UFO's or ghosts but they don't usually let on because people like our little friend darkroom have a field day attacking their credibility and sanity. As to what these phenomena are....who knows, but it does seem as if they're there.

I personally believe one has to strive to keep an open mind in life because if you don't it can lead to a sad and confined existence, and there is the potential to waste a lot of energy attacking, putting down, ignoring or belittling what is hard for you to understand.

Anyway, enough of the profound... on a more mundane level I need coffee and I need it bad!
